A Weight Off My Shoulders (An Open Letter)

I wanted to write a short thought about the change in my weight – which (I’m genuinely flattered) quite a lot of people have actually noticed all of a sudden.

It’s fair to say I could quite happily talk about this subject (and any subject revolving around myself) for weeks, but I won’t. All I really wanted to say was that there are many people (friends, acquaintances, and strangers) who have spurred me on in their actions and in their words. As well as the will of all the people I do sports with nowadays, many people have come up with perceptibly inconsequential comments in conversation which have stuck and really driven me throughout the past year or so – and I’m sure that most of the people I’m referring to don’t realise the impact that they’ve had on me. So, sincerely, thank you.

According to Jeeves, I’m now within a healthy weight range, having lost 3 1/2 stone (or, grandiosely, 50lbs). In my eyes I’ve still got to lose a little fat, and gain muscle, but at least I know that when I do that, I’m going to have ‘killer abs’, thanks to twenty years of sucking my stomach in.

This whole escapade has been with the intention of eventually marrying Zooey Deschanel, so… Zooey. Hellooey?
