30 Day Challenges: Mix, Run & Getting Things Done

Published on 1st September 2012 in Life

It’s time to tie up a few loose ends.

Last month I set myself the challenge of writing and recording a 7-track LP. I did it, sort of… I wrote and recorded 7 songs, but the recording took much longer than I’d hoped so they aren’t yet mixed.

I’m really pleased with where I got to, and I think I probably will release the LP. I intend to do the mixes over the next 2-3 weeks and release in October.

Next: running. I’m also really proud to say I notched up a load of bests in my evening runs over August. I did 82 miles (most miles in a month so far) which included building up to a long run of 10 miles.

I looked at a training programme for a half marathon. It suggested I start 3 weeks ago, and it recommended that I didn’t do one until early October. However, that was a programme from scratch, and I’ve been running a steady number of miles per week, largely free of aches and pains.

I’m going to step down the distances this month and see if I can do a half marathon distance road run before the end of September. Target is 1 hour 50 minutes but just getting around will make me happy.

Finally, this bloody website has been unfinished for months and months now. I don’t have a lot more to do so I’m really going to try and plough on. I’ve got a reasonably tough website building project at work too that needs to be done so hopefully I will get in the mindset of coding stuff up – rather than get discouraged because I’m doing it for 10-12 hours a day!
